Ace Ghanaian actress, Christiana Awuni has cautioned some Ghanaians to stop describing every “Twi-speaking” slay queen on social media as a Kumawood actress.
According to Christiana Awuni in an interview on Y3kasa TV, Ghanaians often confuse slay queens for Kumawood actresses which shouldn’t be the case because the Kumawood brand is strong for such people.
Christiana Awuni stated that the fact that a celebrity articulates the local “Twi” language doesn’t restrict her to be a Kumawood actress.
“I need to clear the air, the name Kumawood is extremely popular in Ghana, so whenever someone speaks Twi and insults others on social media, they are tagged ‘Kumawood actor’”, Awuni said.
She added that discerning Ghanaians wouldn’t name slay queens as Kumawood actresses because the real ones are reserved.
“But let me say this, the discerning Ghanaians who have watched Kumawood films from its beginning understand the real Kumawood stars and actors. Not the slay queens who strip naked and speak Twi. I want Ghanaians to stop tagging them Kumawood actresses and address the decent ones as such. Not everyone can be a Kumawood actor.” She reiterated.
Christiana Awuni’s comments were based on the recent dispute between entertainers Mzbel and Tracey Boakye.
She went further to advise the two women to stop washing their dirty linen in public.
